Select one of the leadership typologies that are summarized

After you’ve done the readings, for this discussion I’d like you to find someone you know – a work mate, social contact, family member – who grew up in another country, not the US. Then:
1. Read the Hofstede profile of that person’s country of origin. (You will find the link to the Hofstede materials in CONTENT – Course Resources – Webliography and here: https://www.hofstede-insights.com) BE SURE TO READ ABOUT THE HOFSTEDE MODELS and how they describe Culture and how they define terms like ‘social distance’ and ‘masculinity.’ Use the terms correctly! (The country profiles will be found at the bottom of the main page I’ve linked to — scroll down and type in the country you want to learn about.) Go to this section of the Hofstede website to learn what the 6-point national culture model is: https://www.hofstede insights.com/models/national-culture/. See how the country’s profile compares to that of the US. Share that with your contact and ask them to comment on the Hofstedt profile – do they feel that it reflects their own experiences in their country of origin? Where do they disagree?
2. Select one of the leadership typologies that are summarized in the readings, and ask your contact to describe their most favored leadership style. (You may want to simplify the typologies to something like ‘authoritative’ or ‘collaborative’ – use words and descriptions that your contact can understand and apply to their own experiences.) Ask your contact if they feel that their choice of leadership style is influenced by their upbringing.
3. Finally, share with the class if you realized anything about your own upbringing and how that may have influenced your leadership preferences. Reading list links: 1.
