Today’s employees resist being controlled, directed, or ordered. They want a lighter touch, a more coaching or mentoring approach. They want a voice as well.

Using the module readings, University online library resources, and the Internet, research leadership approaches. Then, respond to the following:

  • What are 4–5 best practices you have seen or researched in leading with a more indirect or informal approach in your organizations?
  • What types of employees respond well to this? What types do not?

Support your positions with specific examples or by citing credible sources.

Write your initial response in approximately 300 words. Apply APA standards to citation of sources.

 Assignment 2: The Leader in Practice

Using the module readings, University online library resources, and the Internet, research leadership theories, management practices, and best practices related to leadership communication. Select 2–3 scholarly resources for use in this assignment.

Create a PowerPoint presentation addressing the following:

  1. Delineate the differences between leadership and management communication practices and styles, with emphasis on the tenets you believe are the most critical in each regard.
  2. Identify the three most important communication competencies a leader should seek to master and apply. Justify your answer with appropriate references and examples.
  3. State five positive, progressive communication strategies a leader should employ during times of organizational change especially as it relates to strategy and execution.
  4. Summarize the most effective ways in which leaders can demonstrate and utilize their power and influence.

Respond to each part in approximately two slides. Add speaker notes with details about the points discussed so that you could make this presentation to a live audience. Include a title slide, an agenda slide, and a reference slide. Be sure to support your assertions using the selected scholarly resources.

Develop an 8–-slide presentation in PowerPoint format. Apply APA standards to citation of sources. Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M4_A2.ppt.
