DEFINITION ESSAY:

 

1. Write a 500-word definition essay, defining something you know about. The essay can be unconventional and unexpected; however, you should follow the introduction—body—conclusion format and use the paragraph development skills acquired during this module. Write about something you are familiar with, and do not use outside sources.

 2. Answer any one of the three discussion questions at the end of “Salvation,” or discussion question #1 at the end of “Urban Legends: The Boyfriend’s Death.” 

     The answer should consist of a well-developed paragraph, which means your first sentence should answer the question (i.e., topic sentence), and the following sentences should support the topic sentence. The paragraph should be unified and coherent with specific supporting details, quotes and examples from the story. The sentences should be clear, concise, and arranged in a logical order. Transitions, pronouns and repetition should be used to provide coherence. All paraphrased and quoted material must be properly documented with an in-text citation.
