One ethical decision that I had to make recently came in the form of justice. I have taught my children that regardless of race, religion, culture or whatever else you should always treat everyone the same as you would want to be treated. My ex-husband, the father of two of my children, made a big scene about my daughter dating outside of her race. She is currently dating a gentleman who is from Honduras. My daughter was afraid that I would react the same way as her father and was scared to tell me about her relationship. When she did inform me, I asked her if she was happy and does he treat her good. She said yes to both questions and I told her that she has my blessing. I feel that everyone deserves to be treated with respect until that person gives you a reason not too.

I have engaged in many ethical decisions in my life, however the one I have chosen is utilitarian. When I was in high school, I had to make a decision whether to be a mom or finish high school. I had my first child in 10th grade. By the time I was in 12th grade I was expecting my second child. Generally statics would say many young girls drop out of high to be a mother. However I wanted to set an example for my kids and continue my education. Typically the responsible choice would be care for my children. Furthermore I had set goals and set up child care before hand. Although I did have to sacrifice many aspects as a young mother. I did have the opportunity to finish school and receive my high school diploma. This choice has played a major role in my kids life today, my sons are determined to finish high school and attend college. I must say it was all worth it in the end.
